The Derivative Calculator will find the derivative of a function for you, and show all steps in the process along the way.

A quick tip: If the function displayed doesn't seem to match what you wanted to enter, we recommend adding parentheses to group things together! This should make your intended meaning clear to our derivative calculator.

Our calculator supports the following types of functions:

- Real numbers (integers, decimals, and fractions)
- The variable x
- The constants e and pi
- Addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and exponents (+, -, *, /, and ^)
- Trigonometric functions (sin, cos, tan, sec, csc, cot)
- The natural logarithm function (ln)
- The square root function (sqrt)
- Parentheses
- Anything well-formed that can be constructed using any of the above things

Unfortunately, our calculator doesn't support inverse trigonometric functions, hyperbolic functions, or inverse hyperbolic functions—yet. But it will soon!
